Problem: Produce constant wall thickness in a titanium part having a 50% diameter change with dimensionally straight sections on each end.
Solution: Diversico's design experience indicated that a different size tube than that specified would produce a better part. This required special tooling in order to make quality prototypes without a full production commitment. The tubular part was expanded 52% with only .001 loss of wall thickness. After detailed evaluation, the customer agreed to the
new, improved tubular part design. |
